May 3rd – Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

At 116pm we were dispatched for a vehicle accident with entrapment on Eisenhower Blvd at Autumn Drive.  3 Chief and 3 Assistant responded along with Rescue 3-1 with staffing of 6.  3 Chief arrived first and confirmed extensive entrapment.  Engines 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and Squad 3-1 responded with a total staffing of 11.  Rescue 3-1 arrived and setup for the extrication.  The vehicle, which was T-boned on the passenger side, was teetering on the top of the guardrail as well as the vehicle that collided with it, in danger of going over a 50′ embankment into a ravine.  Crews setup struts to brace the vehicle from going over the hillside.  Crews used multiple cutters, a spreader and a paladin tool to flap the roof and remove the passenger side doors in order to extricate the patient.
