May 6th – Rubbish Fire

Units were dispatched for a small outside fire in the mine area of mine 37. Somerset Command 616 notified Car 3-1 after responding that he was on Cottage lane looking at the fire which was on the side of the bony piles of mine 37.  3 Asst. entered the wooded area of 4th and 6th street of Mine 37 by foot and Brush 3-1 entered the mine from the mine entrance off 1st St.  3 Asst found a pile of building material burning.  Brush 3-1 used 1 tank of water to extinguish the fire.  There was another fire on the mine road that Brush 3-1 found on the way back to the main fire that they extinguished on the way back out.  All other units were not needed and placed in service. Total staffing for the incident was 7.
